I have looked at the other threads, but had a slightly different take. I haven't driven a car without power steering as heavy as the Mav so not sure how hard it would be to use! I'll be using the car for fast road/drag not everyday, so it doesn't have to be practical. I usually prefer non PAS as it gives better feel but I might regret that in a reasonably heavy car...?!

Also- how many horses does it take to drive a PAS pump all the time? Nothing's free I know that much!!!!

Manual steering in a mav is fairly easy. I would not want to use the mav's power steering system in a race car anyhow. Its so over powering you can drive the car with your pinky only. Mavs really arent that heavy. I would guess a stripped down race version should be in the 2800-2900 lb area at the most

How heavy is all the original steering stuff? Do you think between 5-10hp is the region the PAS robs?
