    President Taft's son, Charlie drove a gold Maverick with a canoe on the roof. He said: "just in case he wanted to go fishing"! This is on a documentary of the president's families on the History Channel. In a museum for President Taft, there is a display with Charlie next to his Maverick on the riverside fishing. (Unfortunately, they cut the Maverick up for the display, only showing the right rear quarter and taillight panel).

    So where is the President Taft Museum? Sounds like a road trip. Maybe it near Washington DC? :huh: If so....we can all go there next summer during the MCCI 14th Annual Roundup Nationals and get our pictures taken. (y)

    I found an article about the exibit: TAFT EDUCATION CENTER
    (Note she calls the car a Mustang)!

    Oh! Charlie was his half-brother, not his son.

    I understand it is no longer legal to butcher horses in the states. All horse meat comes from abroad, if your interested. :D

    why wuld they cut it up like that? i would think the whole car would be a more effective display, that just looks stupid.

    The best I could tell (by leaning over the glass wall) it was an absolutley rust free car with the original paint. It still has mud splattered on the side!!

    I was amazed at how they cut the car perfectly at an angle in order to get it to fit flush with the wall.
