i think i got most of my engine problems worked out. last wednesday i found another broken rocker arm stud on the drivers side. replaced that and it sounded a lot better. went to the track friday night and ran 12.43 short shifting and then a 12.32. on saturday we had our 4th team race was running mid 12.30's. made it to the finals where i figured it would slow down, because as soon as i made it back to the pit, they were calling us back to staging. so i dialed a 12.38. i ran a 12.30, have no idea where that came from. but i was happy with a second place finish. the guy that won is not in the points. usually runs at firebird, so i should move up from 6th and be within a few points of the lead.
So, do I smell repeat here? I sure hope so!!:bananaman (is the yellow thing doing who's your daddy?) Way to go Don, keep up this type of driving and maybe Castrol will be calling! Good luck with the rest of the season. Terry
don - do you run alky? i tend to have that problem on a rerun or real quick round robin. first, the trans is thoroughly warmed up & lets the car run quicker, & alky likes cyl head temp. so that adds to it. on a quick turnaround i assume i will run about .06 or so quicker. dont always dial for it, but am just aware of the possibility. if you keep having the stud fun, invest in a stud girdle. it stops that, and keeps the lash really set dead on.
igo, i'm running sunoco purple. 2 races ago i had the lower stall convertor in there and dialed 12.71 in the final and ran a 12.76. so since i was running in the mid 12.30's i figured it might do the same. and yes i'm going to pick up a stud girdle for it soon.
