Took my two nephews and son out to the flash light drag races Saturday. This is an informal drag race that they set up in different areas around Western PA to let people come drag race in an 1/8 mile track which they set up at the county airports. This in an effort to keep the kids/people of the streets drag racing which I am all for, even though I did it as a kid on the back roads around Bailey NC in my younger days. Things where a little different now than they where then.
This is actually the second one we went too, last weekend in Wayensburg/Greene County Airport and yesterday at Zelinople/Butler County. At each location there where at least 160 cars or more running not counting the hundred or so spectators. Ours was number #160 at Waynesburg and #151. It is very informal with just one flash of a light to start and a set of lights at the end to tell which lane won. A great place to teach them the basics of drag racing, for them to meet others with similar interest and to see other cars run. You set up your on grudge match with someone there that you feel would be competitive with your car and just go race. If you do not want to set up your own race they will pair you up with someone. You can run as many times as you want and there where some pretty nice cars there running.
It was priceless to see my son's face who will be driving in a year and we already have a maverick for him and my one nephew is 18 now with a 72 Grabber and got to race his first time last weekend and made tremendous improvements this weekend. I have attached a couple of links, one of his car running and of some of the other cars running. I had a blast with them.
Sorry for rambling on but I thought I would share this priceless time/moment that I had with them you you guys.

    Thanks
