    What Frank said.

You also can get the masking tape/paper etc at any paint supply store, and most Oreillys can order it for you, as some of the stores have paint mixers

Actually alot of the guys I know that are doing custom work are using vinyl cutouts. They have their custom graphics cut on vinyl sheets, then adhere them to the car, spray over them and remove the vinyl. It is alot cleaner then paper and masking tape ever was.

If you go to the sign shops they sometimes do them or you can buy one of the graphics kits from one of the ricer shops and spend extra money on vinyl

    (sorry for the riceification)

but even at $100 something when you factor in the cost of time sometimes it is cheaper to get one of those then it is to try and lay out all the individual sections, because those come on one roll and you just have to align the whole thing to the car not each individual section.

Johnson what are you trying to do with it? That would help me think of what to do. If you want to cover the car, draw the design, cut it out, spray, and then pull it up....I use the backing that they sell at sign shops. The stuff I'm talking about is the adhesive backed paper that they put over the vinyl letters to hold them in place after you remove the backing to expose the vinyl adhesive when you apply vinyl stickers. It works good and is semi transparent so you can see other things if you are trying to avoid or work with them. Be careful when cutting out a design to not cut into the paint below as sometimes the paint you put over can get in there and cause some ill effects. If you are trying to tape off stripes I would suggest using 1/8" or 1/4" blue fine line tape, it is much easier to keep straight lines, and then masking the areas that you don't want painted.

If you go to a sign shop with the lettering you want they can make the negative where you just stick it where you and mask to the edges, spray, pull everything up and there are your letters/words.

    Found Something Called RUST

Yesterday I found RUST in the passenger's front floor board. The cowl or the windshield has leaked in on the floor and caused RUST.

I am not used to dealing with RUST. After while I am going to take my air powered wire brush and clean the metal, then figure out how to replace part of the floor pan.

My son is in the garage door business and is going to bring me a used steel door section for the metal.

My approach is to make a cardboard template, cut the metal and rivet it to the floor then fiberglass the whole thing.

Is this a good approach for dealing with RUST?

I was surprised to see RUST on my 75. I hate RUST!!!!

RUST is a very common thing in these cars, especially in that location.

I'm not sure I'd fiberglass the floor, but to each their own.

I'd make a patch panel with good quality metal and then use the seam sealer stuff and call it good.

    RUST in My 75

    Andy

I found the cause of the RUST on the front pass floor board.

The A/C evaporator box is rusted out. My guess is that the vent pipe must have stopped up and allowed water to run onto the floor.

This afternoon my next door neighbor and friend came over and we laid 3 layers of fiberglass mat on the floor.

My neighbor is a retired fiberglass tech.

The first thing I did was use a piece if angle metal and screwed it to the outboard side of the floor area then we put the glass over that and all the holes.

My heater core hoses are disconnected, so I know what that means. Auto Zone has a new heater core for only $18.

The problem is I will probably need to find an evaporator case.

This ting is like the old story about the tar baby, every time I touch it I stick a little tighter.

I am determined to make a whole car out of it.

    Thank you

    Texasjack

Might want to check your cowl panels while your already working in that area... they tend to rust out.

Do a test by running water into the cowl from the outside and see if it runs into the car
