Every chance I get, I'm trying to get the Maverick put back together so I can enjoy it this summer. However, it's been slow going, and of course, as I work on one thing, it leads (or forces me) to act on another. Here's a few pics of the progress I've been making.... Paint on the bumper trim pieces was faded, and since I was having the bumpers re-chromed, I decided to rattle can these...
Then I went to install a AM/FM radio, I discovered my "other" surprise... Last photo is the replacement housing I bought from Craig...
Of course, the lower dash had the typical "crack" in the weak spot, so I fixed that... I've yet to get it painted though....
Then to dress up the car, I decided to paint the rear tail black (which will match the 3/4 vinyl roof (once I dye it), the new body side molding and pinstripe)...
What's left (for this year anyway), seems like the time flies when I'm in the shed, but I'm making progress.... Short list of what's left to do before the Mav is road ready: Install/wire AM/FM radio Paint/install lower dash Install new carpet Clean seats with Lestoil soap reassemble front seat with repaired seam fixed install seats/seat belts Finish putting interior back together Run wire/install dome light/map light re-install tail lights, body end caps install re-chromed bumper remove body side molding remove old pin stripping / body side molding dye vinyl roof black install new black body side molding replace pin stripping
About a year ago I had that very same "other surprise". I solved it the very same way too. A replacement housing I bought from Craig.
