The first car show of the year is Sunday to I got around to finally installing my new 2-peice carpet bought from ebay about 6 months ago ....

I wasn't happy with the fit of the one piece AAC carpet ... maybe I just got a bad one but it didn't fit well and there was no excess to trim when I got it ...

My car originally had a 2-piece carpet from the factory so that is what I wanted to put back in.

Here are some pictures of the old and new carpet. The new carpet has plenty of excess to trim. I already trimmed about 1 foot off the front of the rear section where it underlaps the front section.

Gonna leave it sitting on the car for tonight and let it settle down before final fitting and trim ...

The sound deadener is not new ... I installed it when I restored the car. I don't really recall what year Mustang I bought ... actually I think the floors were the same in all early Mustangs.

65-73 Mustangs use the same floor pans.

Let that carpet settle Dan,, and get it warm as you can. Sure will be nice when done.

Thanks ... although the first week of March is not a good time to install carpet if warmth is required .... :)

I'll let it sit for a few hours in the sun with the windows rolled up tomorrow. Supposed to be 60 and Sunny here in North GA ...

Carpet install is done .... Here are the pictures:

    http://web.mac.com/dmhines/iWeb/Our Website/Grabber Carpet.html

Also notice I installed a factory Maverick Shifter Boot to replace the aftermarket hurst boot I had in there .... a little more originality ...

Some notes about the 2-piece carpet ....

    1) The one from eBay did not have enough carpet to properly cover the passenger front area ... It is only noticable if you are looking up under the dash. I tucked some of the remant up the to fill the gap at the top near the kick panel. I know it was installed properly because the driver side fit fine and the foot pad on the drivers side is centered.

    2) The two-piece is not gonna look 100% perfect right away. The section of carpet that goes over the trans tunnel is not form fitted. There are slight gaps on each side of the tunnel that I left enough slack in to settle down after time.

Overall I think it was an easier install becuase you are working with two smaller pieces of carpet.

That's cool, Dan. I didn't like the fit of the 1-piece carpet I got from ACC either. I thought 1-piece would be cool, but I was wrong...
