I am wondering what the best way to upgrade the 4 wheel break system. Is a break booster enough for daily driving or is upgrading to disks an something to consider if parts are available

    You will want disc brakes.

    Welcome to the Maverick/Comet world.

Thanks! Any recommendations on where to get a kit or other options (salvage yard)?

Hi. The brake question is a very common one and a lot is written on it. Type " disc brakes " in the search function and you will get tons of posts to read. If you have the time to scour wrecking yards and are in an area where Ford Granada's still exist in the yard you might be able to get cheap parts. Alternatively, order up a kit for front manual disc brakes for about $1000 give or take. Almost everyone agrees front disc brakes make a world of difference.:tiphat:

Thanks for the info. I did a lot of research and decided to go with a kit from CSRP (diskbrakesswap.com). The kit is SWAP 2.4/M for $619. it's a complete kit that includes spindles. Now, it's just a matter of starting the process. I will also need to change out the upper and lower ball joints. Since this is something I have not accomplished, I will take it slow and make it as educational and fun for me and my son. Do you have any tips on ball joint replacement?

If the car still has the original joints you will need to grind, drill or chisel the rivets off. Replacements end up being bolted in. Some will say it's worth buying new arms to avoid all the hassle.
