purple mav upgrades

    today a friend of mine is coming over and he is bringing a new intake and carb to try on the mav that i can use if i want.its a new edelbrock victor jr and a holley street avenger 770 he also jetted down the carb.cant wait to see what this does and it dont cost me anything to try it out but a set of gaskets and while im at it im changing my thermostat to a 160.
    wednesday its off to the track to play around a little more

    Good luck. I run a Holley 750HP on mine. It really woke it up. Not sure what the jets are right now. Would have to go to the trailer and check it out. :)

    WOW,just got done with the change over and man did it wake up cant wait to get to the track wednsday and try it out launch at 2000 rpm shift at 6200 should really improve everything.

    don, we have 72s in front and 75s in back to start with.and i have a jet kit so we can adjust it to where we need to be.

    p.s. i just roached the tires out front and wow it woke right up.cant wait to get the new aluminum heads!!!!!!!

    you guys running a lot of CFM for those size motors and it seems to work for you guys. how come everywhere you read that 600 is more than enough and bigger carbs aren't a good idea?

    I guess it depends on the purpose of the car. I go through the traps at about 7000rpm. And I'm just about at wide open throttle most of the time.:)

    these carbs are what i have to use so i tried them. the motor will only pull what it can handle and my motor seems to handle these bigger carbs just fine i dont know why but it does.the 770 holley came off of a 289 and ran great.a 650 is ideal for these motors but if its not broke dont fix it i say.i will know more wednesday after i run it at the track.i will post results thursday
