Went to the body shop today. My rock auto qtr panels came in. They said they really liked the crisp lines and the thickness and the qtrs had the underside lip. However, they were about an inch too long. So of course it will cost more in time to get them fitted.

I was surprised too. But we held them up to the door and sure enough, they went past the tail by about an inch.

I think a return would be in order - that is really bad QC!

I was thinking about that the site said 63" and thats what they measured, spot on. I am going to ask the shop to call Rock Auto before they start. The car was once hit in that back corner, but the tail light panel is fine and I dont think it was pushed in a whole inch.

If your car has been hit....then it is the car...not the quarter panel.

I could see it being pushed in a little, but not a whole inch. The trunk and everything else fits fine. I emailed to see how the other side "dry" fits.

    Just an update

Well seems the qrt panel are also to long for the side that wasnt hit. So the shop is giving rock auto a call today.

Rock Auto won't be too much help....since they didn't actually MAKE the panel.

Being repops...they are not the best panels in the world, and definitly not as good as a Ford quarter panel. I have heard of people having some issues with them not fitting very well....but not that they are an inch too long.

I would say it is a combination of your car being hit before...and the fact that it is a repop panel.

Close, but actually its because it is me. Same reason the checkout line I am NOT in moves faster, I miss phone calls by half a ring, and so on.... :(

Why install the entire panel? Cant you use just what is needed?

Thats what they will do, but since I am paying by the hr, it would be cheaper to just slap the whole panel on instead of cutting and fitting.

LOL, sounds familiar. Once upon a time I had a pair of repop quarters, got them from either Autokrappers or Sherman, don't remember. The fit was terrible. Edges at the doors and rear spoiler extensions weren't sharp, the body line didn't meet the line on the door...

The autokrafters panels fit very poorly. I could not get my wheel well trim to fit on them. If you can keep any of the factory flanges, like where the quarter meets the door, trunk, and wheel well opening, then do it. Those panels make decent patches for the lower section, that's it IMO. I hope joe gets those patches made.

The shop talked to rockauto. Rockauto said they were supposed to be too long by about an inch or so to allow for trimming. Bodyshop told me that was stupid. Regardless they are on now.
Another issue he had was with 1 of the side lite cut outs. The actuall hole was not centered in the impression. The otherside was fine. So that's gonna cost me more to have fixed.
    Just an fyi...
