question about painting dash

    I am stripping my maverick dash to bare metal and I wanna prep it the best I can before shooting it with new paint!i was thinking about using the Scott drake black charcoal metallic #L4464 this is a laquer and I was wondering if scoot drake has a primer that I need to use or can someone recommend something thanks for any ideas or info before I start this or order and paints

    I have not done much paint work on cars. All I can say is if you top coat with lacquer, make sure you use a primer that will not get softened by it. The paint store should be able to sell you a compatible primer. I use an oil based primer on slot car bodies when using lacquer, but I am sure there is something better to use on metal. Let me know what you use so I can learn something too!
