has anyone tried to compete in the fastest street shoot out???? sounds like there would be afew of you who could possible pull it off!
I believe to have a real chance of winning the fastest street car shoot out, you're going to have a "street legal" car than can run in the very low 7's and possibly high 6's. However, street legal and street practical are two entirely different classes.
I do not care how you look at it they are NOT!!!!!!!! street cars. They are Pro Stocks with lights, horn and turn signals. My deal is that they need to reverse the tech procedure for the class. After the race has been completed all the winners need to go to a staging area where the crews do not have access to the cars and let them cool down. Then they need to go on thier 25 mile drive to prove they are racing a car that can be driven on the street. The rule is they have to finish the race with the same block that they started with. That opens a lot of doors to changes to the engine. If they want to blow a 1000HP of NO2 through thier engine then that is OK, or even let them change the blower pullies. But all the other stuff they change to get thier cars to go 7s takes them out of the street car class. ie. heads, intakes, forced induction, ignition systems etc... In my opinion the cars should not be alowed to be changed in any way (except for tuning) from the state they come off the 25 mile road course. Then I think that you would not see the 7s and 6s that they are turning now. Street cars.......Yea Right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When was the last time anyone has seen a car like that sitting at Sonic getting a hamburger? At least change the name of the class to However you want to mod your car after the inspection and test class. Then people would not think that they are true street cars. Just my thoughts on the whole deal.
Me and thee agree and are on the same page. I remember several years ago going to one of those "fastest street car shootouts." All I saw was a bunch of Pro Stock cars with DOT tires and working lights. Talk about a let down.
Yep, nuff said on so called street legal. Will say, that when they hold our state championships for "street legal" cars, they must all make a ten mile drive around the complex, before they race, along with a tech inspection. Tags and insurance are required too, still got some fast cars though. Very fine line between street and pro stock type cars. Good for me to watch but I'll stick with the bracket's, cheaper in the long run for me and the overall expense of racing. JMO
Yeah...but they sure are fun to watch! If I had unlimited funds, I'd be running one...but that is pretty much what it takes. Cubic dollars! later,
Im going to try to run in DR with mine next year at Orlando..Im gonna atleast try to qualify..So maybe Ill be the first maverick to do so...My fingers are crossed..
I must be getting that pink feeling because I've been reading up on the 10.5 class as well. Those boy are now getting into the high 6's. Talk about a pucker upper when you get out of the groove.
I ran a race like that with my mustang at a local track. They called it true steet. there was 2 classes anything goes and 10 inch terror. I ran the 10 inch class they had a 25 mile drive before when you got back you started racing they sealed the the hoods trunk and gas door. It was fun ended up 8th place but still fun.
watching them guys chase the car down the track, makes me wonder if I could even do it.....I value myself and my equipment too much to take a BIG chance of touching the wall or worse. *I watched one at the end of this season (in person) pro-outlaw car was taking its maiden voyage, made it too the 60 foot mark, got sideways, went into the other lane, over corrected (and for some reason got back on the throttle) and went head first into the wall at the 330 mark......all that time and money only to have a destroyed car after 330 feet. The "driver for hire" claims he never got back on the gas, but he did....and the car owner was a little more than pissed
