just drove by a new teeny bopper nite club here in chicago heights and drew a lot of attention.besides the perverbial "nice car man" a couple of guys stopped me in what looked like maybe a 80 or 81 monte carlo and said "man what kinda car IS that, and why ya got that ford oval on the trunck?that aint no kinda ford we've ever seen.we had to stop you and ask" ya know that look your dog gives ya when you ask him if he has to go outside?thats the same look i got from those guys when i said it was a maverick. "maverick???"they said"what the hells a maverick?" just thought i'd share that with yall.we get no respect!!!!!!!!!!
When my Mav was still on the road I had some guy next to me at a light tell me I had one of the cleanest Vega's that he'd seen in a while.
Actually, I think he 'respectfully' complimented you on your car-in-general. Not everyone knows what a Maverick is. I think it's an attribute of the 'spirit' of the Maverick (different - leaving the norm).
oh yea, i've got the "nice vega" shot before. i think we all have. i just got a kick out of "is that really a ford?" wait till we start drawinging into another generation pool in 10yrs.hope all our rides hold up by then>have a great weekend guys. bob ackett
Last week we were parted next to a Vega at the car show we attended. Nobody had any problems telling one car from another. There are some bonified rednecks who live on the next street down from us who have nothing nice to say about Fords whats so ever. One day one of them asked me what kind of "Chevy" my red Maverick was. They were all smiles until I told them it was a Maverick.. a FORD Maverick. That shut them up but fast and the smiles were gone. The Maverick went from a " beautiful Chevy" to a " junk Ford" in 5 seconds flat. Some people are just plain stupid idiots.
