trying to make an engine combo decision..I need to know what the weight of you maverick/comet is without driver ready to race..Im going to have a stock suspension fullinterior car with only a fiberglass hood and two kirkey aluminum seats, can anyone give me a round about weight...Thanks Roger
I estimate mine at 2700 lbs, minus driver. Mine is stock minus the big bumpers, replaced with small ones, and as much stuff taken out as I can. Bucket seats replacing the bench, and a plywood "dog perch" instead of back seat. All "crap" taken off the engine (not worth more than maybe 20 lbs total).
i hoping mine weighs in at about 2500-2600 , i have small bumpers, all steel, guted interior(for now) fuel cell (no tank) no ps no ac, i hope to be in that range maybe i should loose couple pounds
Have to know what year Mav. My 77 is not lightened except for aluminum heads and intake, and headers, with 1/4 tank of fuel weighs about 2950
It is nice to see that I probably wasn't too far off on my original estimate Not bad for just "guestimating"...
I bet your wieghs more like 2900-3100lbs. Mine weighs 2750 without me and the early 69.5s and 70's were the lightest of all mavericks
STill, not too far for a quick estimate...I took the 72 model (last year with small bumpers) then added weight due to the door reinforcement bar, then removed weight from items I took out, and got this ballpark figure.
Before I backhalfed and did the Mustang 2....stock chassis Maverick 31 spline Mosers (heavier) in a 9" (heavier than the 8") full spool, big drums on the back, stock drums up front...basically a stripped '75 Maverick 2 door with one fiberglass seat and no back seat. Door beams were removed. Plastic windows, aluminum heads, 351w/powerglide. Light aluminum dash. Weighed 2580 without me in it. I'm around 160 lbs. After I backhalfed it and put in the Mustang front suspension, I figure it lost ~300-400 lbs, maybe more. But, I put the 14 pt. rollcage in so that added a little bit back. Engine & trans didn't change, but the car picked up .3 in the 1000' ET just by doing the backhalf and mustang 2 IFS. Went from 8.65 best to 8.34 best. MPH didn't increase a whole lot (maybe 2 mph, IIRC) which is an indication that the HP didn't change any. I think it went from 114 best to 116, IIRC.
awesome thats just right around the weight i was looking for, so i should be close to my guessmitent i still have 8 inch , c4 is that heavier than a PG and my car is a 75 small bumper, execpt im about 235 lbs maybe if i loose couple pounds ill be closer to my weight i want....
eddie1975 you are not FAT!! Coming to MIR next weekend? My car has the small bumpers, no passenger seat with me in it 2980 351W stroked to 408, Vic JR heads, one SWEET C4, ford 9 inch, and a 165lbs driver. So 1badmav tell me what motor have you chosen? If I had to do it all again, there is a motor SITTING on the floor at a local speed shop where I live. Dyno power 510 ponys, now I know that doesn't sound like much but for a STREETABLE 347 it kicks A$$. Years agos I posted all the info and the dyno sheet on the motor so if you look at my posts from 2 or 3 years back you might find it. ALL FORD POWER AT MIR on the 21 and 22 OCT one hooken track. AS seen on PINKS http://www.mirdrag.com/ Hope to see as many of you there as I can.
One kick butt 347 Just follow the link for the post I was talking about. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=5862&highlight=347
