Looks great! What is the difference between early years and the later ones?

Joe, your doing a great service to the community. While your at it you might want to reproduce a correct upper shift boot for the Maverick/Comet with either a round hole for stock shifter or a rectangular hole for a hurst style shifter. You could sell these to Maverick/Comet owners as well as 71-3 Mustang owners. Good ones for a 71-3 Mustang w/Hurst shifter go for north of $100.00 used. I've seen NOS ones in the $300 range. Just a thought. - Matt

Mustangs and Mavericks never used the same Shifter Boot. I don't know anyone but me using a factory shift boot on their car. I slightly trimmed the round hole on the Maverick Boot to fit my Hurst Shift handle.

Hey Dan, The 72-73 Mustangs used the same shifter boot as the Maverick and Comet I believe with the round hole. PN for this boot was D2ZZ-7277-A. The 71 Mustangs with Hurst shifter had the rectangular hole and was PN D1ZZ-7277-B. Here are a couple pics for comparison. BTW, the round hole one is currently on E-bay NOS for $199.00. I've posted more pics in my members gallery. Also through in a pic of the original insert for the 71-73 long and short console bezels if anybody is interested. Both shifter boots would be great for reproduction as there is a rather large crowd that probably would buy one or the other. - Matt

Sorry Matt ... but you are wrong ....

Here are some NOS parts I have ... including a Maverick Boot and Retainer.

Notice the Hole is NOT centered like the Mustang Boot. Notice the Maverick Boot has 6 sections ... the Mustang Boot has 5. Also Notice the base of the Maverick boot is METAL and meant to be covered by the plastic retainer. The Mustang boot is either Rubber or Rubber Cover metal. The Maverick Boot has a Maverick part # ... The Mustang Boot has a Mustang Part # ...

Joe that would be great. The only reproductions I've seen are cut square across the front. I think a Maverick/Comet style in both round and with slot for Hurst shifter would probably sell pretty good. I could use three of them. - Matt

I'll ask a second time. what is the difference between a early (70--73) rad cradle and a later model. I have had both and compared them and only difference that I could see was the paRT #.Both were NOS and I still have the late model one:)
