Finally got a chance to run the new electric fuel pump and pertronix setup. Runs MUCH better.

Still not so good with the exhaust dumps off...not so smooth up around 3500 rpms, but if it wasn't drizzling and threatening to shut the track down at any minute, I would have messed with the mixture to see if richening it up corrected that.

Nice, hot, and muggy night. Had to wait for an hour for the drizzle to stop, then quickly run some runs before it started to drizzle again. Hardly anyone there, so no waiting in lines. Kinda nice, actually :yup:

Man you always post without including your time, then I have to wonder if your timeslip entry is the updated one. :smash: Post your time here too! :D

    Oh yeah, congrats! :D

Sorry guys, but if I ever say I beat my time, I immediately post it to the timeslips.

    Two weeks ago:

    2.201 60'
    9.462 ET
    73.76 mph

Yesterday (wish I would have been running last weekend, nice and cool, no humidity, no wet roads  )

    2.182 60'
6.1088 330' (not sure, what is the significance of the 330')
    9.3962 ET
    75.63 mph

I will try to post my times from now on. Now that I look at it side by side, it wasn't exactly 2 tenths

A nice gain there Scott...the 330 will let you see where in the powerband you picked up some time(y)

Nice going, Scott! You're coming along nicely with a 'budgeted' race car. I like the approach.

You have a PM about the hood scoop (that's sure to cut you're e.t. by a full second..... with the right stickers! ;) ).

Rick, I PMd and called your cell phone, give me a call so we can make the deal in person, preferably.

The cool thing about last night is that now that I have the fuel flow sufficient, and the spark nice and strong, I can actually feel the limits of the cam/intake/heads when I drive...I take off slow until 2500-3000 rpms, then it quickly goes to 5000-5500 (my intake kicking in). Now, if I had a different cam, and more importantly, a stall converter that was up around 2500-3000, I could easily cut another .3-.5 off that time. Also, need some good rubber.

Speaking of rubber, the tech suggested to stay away from the drag radials and just buy the cheap rims with slick on them. Same argument I have been dealing with for the last few months. Have to make a decision soon, since I have inadvertently converted my T/A radials to "slicks" recently. At my track, I cannot drive around the water, as it goes all the way across the lanes. So I do quick burnouts, 2 or 3 of them, then launch. I guess those are called "hops"?

I am ready to work on that extra hood and cut some holes for "cold air induction", if you know what I mean. I might actually do a foam ring around the hood hole to force the cold air into the carb. Use it to it's full potential, if I have it.

if the class you hope to race in doesnt require the dot tires, the slicks are always better. dont forget the front u-joint loop.

I don't race against others....just myself. Want to beat my own times.
