what do you think is the rarest color on a maverick....from the factory, my guess is #1 is black #2 grabber blue #3 grabber yellow ??
I have pictures of a pink maverick which the owner claims is factory. I have yet been able to prove it & I'm not going to spend the money at Marti to find out. It will probably be in the next ShortHorns
Having seen pictures of the pink Maverick, seeing the cars data plate codes on the MCCI application, and talking to the owner......I believe the color to be correct. The car has NO paint code and a six digit DSO...so it was a special order car.
I restored a pink 66 Mustang back in 1983, same situation...six digit DSO and no paint code. There's no doubt it was original. I did a 100% restoration so it came all the way down and everything was pink. I've seen lots of special order Mustangs done like that. Anyway, I'm with Craig...the pink Mav is most likely original...and most likely the rarest color on a Mav.
Actually, that's a 68 Mustang. They built a few in 67 that were called Playboy pink. Looks like maybe 68 too if that one's original. The 66 car I did was a much paler pink. It was given away at a gas station. Every time you filled up you got a raffle ticket for the drawing. The old couple I did the car for was the original owners of it. They told me there was 300 of them built and all were raffled off in the same manner. I wish I could find the article on it. It was put in a magazine several years ago but unfortunately Hurricane Katrina took my magazine collection I've had since the early 70's.
The second I read the title of this thread, pink poped into my head. Although I have never seen a factory black Maverick.
Factory Black pic Here is a pic of a Factory Black Mav. This car is actually for sale at Collector Trader online. Just thought I would post it for the guys who said they have not seen one. Mike
Maybe those Pink Mavericks were ordered up by Mary Kay,they did a number of cars in pink as awards to there sales force.
