hey everyone i was trying to turn my auto into a 5speed when my tranny went bad but was unsuccessful. so i bought a used auto trans that came out of an 86 ford mustang. now after installing it and starting the car i heard a rattling noise. sounds like metal hitting metal. and it doers it every time i put the car in reverse or press the accelerator. any idea what it might be???

Something you may also want to take a look at is the plate that goes between the tranny and block. It may have gotten bent and is rubbing against the flywheel.

but was it seated all the way into the pump? with the bellhousing bolted up, the TQ should still have a little in/out movement...
    also as stated the...motor plate...
does the TC have a drain plug? if so was it installed to stick through the hole made for it in the flexplate.
