Yeah.. guy I got this car from said he'd put a brand new carb on the car and that it needed adjustments. I don't have the old carb so I'd like to know what the best "default" settings would be for this thing?

I'm not able to determine how well it's running because the timing is off and detonation and accelleration are a much bigger issue right now.

    Thanks again guys.

Before doing any carb adjustments get your timing set correctly. If you are still running points make sure they are set correctly (others will reply and tell you to upgrade to elctonic ignition) as the point dwell setting effects the timing.

There should be 2 adjustments on your carb the mixture adjustment needle and idle adjustment screw. The mixture needle will be the one that angles down towards the engine. Simply turn this in until the engine stumbles and back it out about 1/2 to 1 turn you will know when the engine is running smoother.
The idle adjustment screw simply adjusts the speed at which the engine is running at idle.

There's actually three needles. Two on one side, one on the other. The one by itself is idle.

On the other side there's two adjustments -- one points up, one points straight out.

Always needin' help, always getting it. Thanks.
