Well it's finally ready to shoot, I drove it around to the shop where I'm gonna paint it. Hear are a few pics, the overhead canopy lowers from the ceiling and curtains enclose the car. I got a pic of Mr. Harvey puttin the EVIL eye on it, he has a second pair of glasses that got to have 10X magnification, I hate it when he pulls them things out. He's been advising me through this process.
Here are a few pics of why I got his advice. This is his 57 T-Bird, I know it's not a Mav or Comet but if you love cars, ya gotta love this. He's retired and does one car in about year. He's currenly restoring a 53 Kaiser Henry J.
Good luck Rick , I hope the paint turns out the way you want it . I know you`ve put alot of sweat into it
Rick, speaking of...sweat...i think the mix ratio is 1 to 1 to paint...1 gal. paint...1 gal. sweat... ...looks great...maybe see it in July...frank...
Rick, you are going to do a good job and it will look great. If the old adage "You get out of it what you put into it," is true. You will have a class A paint job. After the Round-Up, you can start on mine.
....... If I never see sandpaper and primer again it will be too soon...on the flip side I think when you do something like this with your car some kind of bond forms, I know why you here folks say " I cried the day I sold it" or "it was the saddest day of my life". I could write a book about this experience, any ways thanks for the kind words guys. Jerry, Mr. Harvey has "wheel socks" and skirting to go around the entire bottom of the car, I've done a little detailing to the underside so Overspray is a major concern.
Between this and the "other" project every spare minute is tied up. One thing this has convinced me to do soon is put a central heat/AC system in the shop with a reheat dehumidifier capable of handling 50% outside air and an indusrial type air filtration system in. Working in a shop that can maintain 70 degrees with 50% relative humidity would be a dream come true.
Rick, that is cool being that close I guess you are going back white? I would like to see that canopy when it is dropped over the car if you don't mind posting a pic.
Rick, I told a friemd of mine about the canopy paint booth and he is very interested to know if its home made or something he can buy ? I know you have ALOT going on right now ,but if you think of it please try to ask your paint man for some details about the canopy and let me know Ok? Thanks.
