Hey guys, There were some people on here that wanted to see the subframe connectors and Caltracs. Well I've got the rear in place, but there are a couple of bugs I have to work out (you might note some loose bolts still). The girdle is too close to the driver side shock and I need to put some longer studs in the axles. But here are the specs thus far... Strange center section, 3.25 bearing Daytona pinion support 1350 steel yoke Strange spool 35 spline Moser axles, gundrilled and lightened 3.07 Richmond gears, Nascar lightened Disk brakes Caltracs Rancho adjustable shocks Subframe connectors Cragar Dragstars This is all in preparation for the twin turbo 347 I have sitting on the engine stand. Oh, I'm also in the process of doing the gas tank swap, rollerizing the front end, and I've already did the 4 speed swap.
LOL Simon, you have way more faith in my engine building abilities than I do! I think they're giving you crap because I've seen Caltracs work in 8 second cars. If my car even approaches that...well it would be an act of God! (or a huge explosion propelling it off the starting line!) LOL Thanks for all the kind comments guys! I've worked hard on this and it's taken way too long to get to this point...so my excitement level is building! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
i always thought that caltracs are cheap way of doing a 4-link.. im sorry if i dont know ... i just never thought caltracs were anyhting more than a glorified slapper bar..
Hey Don. Yeah, we need to meet up sometime...my car should really be running first though! LOL I'm sure I'll run into you soon. My buddy with a '56 Chevy has been running pretty often lately out at Firebird. I usually go out to Speedworld because it's so close, but I've been trying to help him out to get the tune on his car. Last time out he ran a 10.84, 10.89, and a 10.86. Our next trip we are setting him up with another one of our buddies LM-1 wideband. Then we should get the motor dialed in and all we have to work on then is driver issues. It's funny, he's been building this car since we were in high school together. He actually took it off the road in 1986 to back half it and it was just earlier this year that he got it running again. I guess the 1 year mine has been down isn't so bad!
i'll be back at firebird on the 12th of may. hard to get to speedworld. too many races. sir t&t on the 4th, points race on the 5th, also the memorial day race on the 26-27th at sir. june 2 at sir, 9th at fb 23rd at sir. have to give the wife a couple of weeks in between. july is the 7th at sir and the 14th at fb, ten leave for the gathering in ky and the roundup in va. then back to sir for a points race the next week. man, summer is almost gone and it isn't even here yet.
Man Don! What a schedule! I had something like that the past month. Had the Nostalgia races in Tuscon, then races at Firebird with my buddies 56, then had a desert race for my friends class 10 car in Vegas, followed by races at Speedworld with the top fuel dragster. So I can relate! I think that I'm involved with too many race teams...if that's truly possible?! LOL This last weekend was the first time I had a chance to work on my own car. That's how I found time to get the rear axle in it finally. And of course...time with the wife and family...I'll squeeze them in somewhere! LOL
i was at the nostalgia races in tucson. got there on friday, stayed for saturday and sunday. met a lot of people that said they had mavericks or were building them. maybe we met and don't even know it.
