Do you know the part number? 70-73 used the same rear bumper, but in 73 the bumper was positioned further from the body of the car. I have some 73 rears, but I'd have to dig them out to see if they are the same.
1970-1972 Maverick/Comet rear bumper guards are TOTALLY different than 1973 Maverick/Comet rear bumper guards. Those look like Pinto guards to me.
I scored a set of rechromed 73 bumpers for $180 the pair. I like the 73 front bumper even though a lot of people think they are too big. I dont really like the bulkiness of my 74 bumpers so I will use these instead. I like the bumper guards too. But I don't have neither. I also have the bumper pad holes and need to find those as well. So any leads (prefereably NOS) would be appreciated. I will try to get the part number. Is there a filler piece the goes between the body and rear bumper? I have the right and left rear extensions and the piece that sits right below that that the bumper fits over, but is there anything that fits in the middle section? Also are the bumper brackets for the rear different than the 70-72 ones? I'm swapping from 74 so As soon as I find the part number I will cross reference. When you say they are totally different will they not fit or is it just the bumper pad difference? Thanks guys!
I can get you the part number if you'd like. I have a set of 73 rears, they are used, and I have no idea what they look like. What you can do is use the 73 front bumper, then when you install the rear, just get some 70-72 bumper brackets so the bumper will sit tighter. That's what I did with my 73 Grabber. I'm not a fan of the gap on the 73's, it looks like something is missing...
I would totally appreciate that part#. If yours are in good shape and you'd be willing to sell them send me some pics. Your car looks awesome! I have the same extensions and spoiler for my car and that pic is very inspiring!!!
These are 1973 rear bumper guards: The attachment bolts for the '73 are not directly horizontal, like the ones in your picture. You can see the bolt in the center guard. I also have fronts guards and some old rubber laying around. If Dave can't hook you up, just PM me. They are taking up dust.
Here is a 1973 rear bumper with bumper guards. This bumper ONLY has the vertical guards....not the horizontal rubber strips. When the bumper has the horizontal bumper strips, the bumper guards are the same and in the same position.
you also need the piece behind the bumper, at the base of the quarter extenion... just left of the ugly Guy in the reflection in the bumper...
