I have read and heard that to do the rear disc swap that there is some trimming of the axel housing flange needed, though I did not see the specific reason why it had to be trimmed I am assuming it is because of some type of indent in the backing plate (can anyone shed light on the reason for cutting the flange) well the backing plates I'm using have no indent, thay are flat across, all the way, so I should not have to cut my axel flanges....right? Oh now I did it...thought too much, gotta have a nap!
The one I have is kinda flat, if anything it may be raised where ur's is recessed, what year is that and what's it off of? I've also noticed my bolts are offset too.
I measured it once but I don't remember, it's dark and raining here now so I don't really want to go out and measure them now.....aww well wait....best I can tell with my Craftsman tape measure it's 2 7/8" or close. Here are the numbers I ran and got 1999 Crown Vic.... 3213636-U Google........ http://www.ropermotor.com/parts/ford/crown%20victoria/bracket/
Wouldn't the bolts being offset possibly clearence the caliper better in relation to the spring? I mean it's either gonna be better or worse, could these be from a police intercepter Crown Vic thus the reason for the difference, I don't know but I'm gonna try them on my car, at least I won't have to cut the flange with these, thus my reason for this thread.
you may run into an...E-brake cable...problem... those clip thingys look like...bearing retainers... of all the...CVs, Linc, and G.M. we've seen, none have a Disc. brake bracket like those......
The e-brake hookup looks to be the same as the one in the pic Jeff posted, I'm hoping I can lose those clip thingys, and didn't I read someplace that some guys have redrilled holes in backing plates to offset them and get a better fit? Can someone measure the distance between the mounting plate holes and let me see if they match?
Right now my Grabber has no e-brake at all, seems the cable has been removed and the pull handle inside is screwed up so I will have to redo the whole works, maybe I can improve it then also.
