I looked at the tag on the door. My car is a 76 came with a 2506cyl auto and says axle#3 on the door tag. I looked at the rear tag on the center section and the only thing there was a few numbers and one that says 279. any help would be apperciated. thanks

If the axle is the stock unit...2:79:1 ratio is what you have.

Didn't I read in an old post that you had swapped the 6 for a 302? If so your not gonna be happy with that 2.79 to 1 rear gear. I've still got the 250 I6 with a 2.79 , and I'm looking for a lower gear. Although when I get done with my inline 6 build I'm hoping to make close to the same amount of horse power as the average 70's 302 made.
