Hey guys. I havent been on in a while, but I just got a few things in that I ordered for the 71 Grabber (wipers, door knobs, and package tray). Well, the old package tray just fell apart when I went to take it out, but trying to put the new one in has been a pain in the butt!
Any idea would be GREATLY appriciated!

    Thanks!

You have to remove the rear seat to replaced the package tray. With the rear seat out you can remove the clips that hold the package tray in place which are hidden behind the seat cushion. It's slides right in ...

On the lower cushion, give a sharp push towards the rear and up at the same time on both sides. That will unhook the front of the cushion. Then pull the lower portion out. Look under the top section and you will see 2 bolts. Remove these and pull the cushion straight up a few inches and then out.

I appriciate your help Mavaholic! I guess this will be a Sunday project.

I also noticed some shag carpet under the old package tray. there is VERY little left there. Should this be replaced as well? im sure it is to stop the noises it could make.

So the shag carpet really isnt needed? I dont want it to rattle back there too much when I put the speakers in.

From the factory there was only a hardboard cover.

Some Mavericks and all the LDO cars had insulation under the board. This would help keep it for rattling.

I have it in and it took all of 5 minutes. thanks for your help guys. there is a little bit of carpeting in there and it is rattling a little. I think ill just replace it. shouldnt be too much to just get some cheap carpet somewhere and put under it.

if you use 3 way speakers in the back like i do, you should put the shag (there i said it as well) back in...or something like a thin sheet of felt (found at any fabric store for about 3bucks a yard) and put it under the package tray...this will keep the package shelf nice a quiet and you can hear the bass a little better as well

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing about putting something in there for when I get the speakers in. Thanks for the input and confirming that I'll need it.

Ill find something to quiet it down
