I'm attempting to make a rear parcel try for a 1970 mav, does anyone have a pic of one? its bettween the rear glass and back seat..... i just would like to see what a stock one looks like, mine was missing when i got my car, Thanks
No pic... ..but mine was in pieces when I restored the interior. I had the upholstery man cut me one to fit and cover it with vinyl. He only charged an additional $30, but that was after spending $450 everywhere else. He cut it out of a heavy type of cardboard, not quite wood but much stronger than cardboard. Seth
I have a decent used one if you want. If you are going to make one, take all your measurements from front and back width wise as well as from trunk to seat. Make a template using these measurements in cardboard like from an unfolded large box. Place the template in place and see how it fits. If your measurements are right on, use this for a guide to make your shelf out of whatever material you want that will fit.
I made mine for my '70. Used a piece of cardboard to make a template. When I had that fitting right I transferred the shape onto a piece of wallboard like you put in bathrooms/ showers. Paid $9 or $10 for it at Lowes. It's strong and waterproof. The finished side was white, I put that side down facing the trunk. The top side was brown, just primered it and painted it semi-gloss black.
I bought a package tray off ebay thats black. the owner of the car b4 me put vinyl from the rear window all the way to the back seat.... But if i did that, it would go over my package tray..... Now i wonder what goes from the rear window to the beginning of the tray? Is it supposed to be vinyl covering the whole thing? If so, why can u buy them in diffrent colors?!?!?!?
We made our own using the original tray as a pattern. We used hardboard that we bought from Home Depot and covered it with black felt. We drilled holes in the hardborad where the speakers go before installing the felt. the result is a smooth black tay and it hides the speakers underneath. Here are some pics. Also, we are going to use the rest of the hard board to make some door panels.
