My 70 Maverick could use a new (better) Lt rear quarter panel. Can I use one off of my 74 parts car? Are they interchangeable?
thank you sir, see your from Detroit. I'm from Port Huron. We're thinking about going back there next year to retire.
Measure them up and compare them. I would think they would work. I am pretty sure that all quarters are the same, except for 2-door vs. 4-door, and even then, I think you can cut the 2-door down to fit the 4-door. Notice I used lots of "I think" and "I am pretty sure", etc. I have never done it, but I have seen the parts for sale and they talk about cutting them down.
QUARTER PANEL - 70-77 MAVERICK/COMET 2- OR 4-DOOR RH Part Number: 450-50R Price: $299.95 USD Additional Charges: Boxing Fee: FROM AUTOKRAFTERS website. So I guess they all fit, all the way across, 2-door and 4-door.
What sparked my curiosity was eBay. There were several advertised, with date ranges i.e. 73-77, 72-75 etc
Even if there was a difference, I would expect it to be from 69.5 vs 70-78. Not 73-77 vs 72-75. I am pretty sure the body stayed the same during all those years. The differences in those years would be bumpers (and front fenders, with the notches cut out for small bumpers), dashboards, steering columns, seats, and instrument clusters. For the most part, these cars stayed pretty much the same from 70-78.
That's what I thought too. Now the big question, does AUTOKRAFTERS ship to Alaska. I sent them an email, I'll see what they say. Thank you for your help.
They are all the same. The reproduction parts are not the best quality and making them fit takes a little more effort than factory parts. I'd cut them off another car if you can.
I agree. I would also add: all the quarter panels you see on ebay...they are all made by the same company.
But there are some on e-bay, NOS it says. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=ford+maverick+quarter+panels&_sacat=0
