Since I got the car I've noticed one really annoying thing that happens in the trunk. For some reason the part on the inside of the trunk where the bulbs for the tail lights are installed there is nothing protecting them from random shifting crap in the trunk. There are bolts pointing back where a shield could be attached. Was there ever anything here to guard the part where the bulbs are or what? I'm planning to fab up something to bolt onto the factory bolts that are already there. Has anyone else had to do this? I assume it's rather common.

Thats a good question.I have seen a guard like that on muckstains but not Mavs/Comets.I know what you mean, had my small tool box short out my tail lights like that once.

Yeah,my biggest problem is my toolbox, too. It really seems like it was meant to have a guard with the bolts though, huh?

The later Brazilian lights had guards build into them. And from the pairs that I've seen, they all take a beating!

    I've had a few
I would buy several sets of those! I've had the tail light and reverse light bulbs get pulled out of the socket and busted several times from various things I've had in my trunk.

They shouldnt be too hard to make. Just take some thick aluminum measure, and cut it out and then bend it where the dash lines are at and drill your holes. Then is should just slip over the tail light studs and then bolt on.

that's pretty much what I planned on doing. Mavman72, go ahead and tell joe. It sounds like there may be a big need for these as this is a common problem. I'll get around to fabbing guards of my own when I finish the rest of my body work sometime next month....Maybe RPS will save me the trouble....:bouncy:
