depends on how bad off it is what you'll need to do to it. for your situation it sounds like you might be better off just picking up a strong running 302, maybe from the junk yard to drop in. maybe get an efi 5.0 engine and drop a 4bbl intake on it if you dont want the headache of fule injection.

If you are rebuilding a stock engine, just follow the directions in a good Chilton's Manual. It's laid out pretty well.

    But that is strictly stock.;)

You never know what all you're dealing with until you tear it down and inspect everything. Then proceed from there...

buy a basic rebuild kit from jcwhitney or summit or jegs, or where ever.

get a shop to do the machine work and make sure you dont order the bearings and rings until AFTER they do their work.

get a cam slightly bigger than stock, you wont be sorry, and it wont kill your gas mileage to bad.

put it all together, torque it down correctly.

you can put an engine together in 2-3 days for a novice.. or in one day if you need to.. since it sounds like it might be your first.. take your time,

DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING.. and make completely sure you have all your tools accounted for

Don't know of any websites with detailed instructions.

I think How to Rebuild Your Small-block Ford from HP Books would be a good investment ($12.89 on Amazon)

Tom beat me to it! (y)

sometimes you can find those books on ebay or amazon.com. you really need the book. it's a good buy if your working on motors often.:)
