Tom It was my pleasure! I have rearranged some things in my life and changed some priorities in my life too. I have decided to sell of many of my surplus parts that I have collected over the past 20 plus years. There is no way I would be able to do three cars. I am going to quit being a parys hoarder. A lot of the parts are the rare and hard to find parts. I am going to concentrate on one car only here out or at lest until it is done. I know the pad has gone to a good home and will be used in a great project car. Good luck with your project. Let me know if there is any other psrts you need. Thanks Allen Small.
Looks awesome!! Nice to see someone that knows how to ship an item!! Much better than the Comet GT grille that was shipped recently to a member in JUST bubble wrap!
Very nice pad indeed. How long before it goes on? After making a crate box for the one I was going to sell I went and had it weighed. It would cost a fortune to ship. This is why I question shipping when it comes to shipping these fragile large items. Better off meeting at a meet.
I built the crate using 3/4" thick plywood the sides and 1/8 thick plywood for the top and bottom of the box. Glued, nailed and screwed it all together except the top and bottom. All this was done to keep the weight down on the unit as much as possible. I also built is so that the pad fit snuggly inside with just enough room for some 1/4" foam padding. I have to say I was worried about what the cost would be because of the crate, but that was the only way I was going to ship it. It also helps that I work for a custom woodworking company and have access to all kind of building materials and equipment to build a box like that. Most people do not have access to that kind of stuff, especially at no cost to me for eh material, just my time which took about 30 minutes at the most to cut and assemble. I have shipped all kind of stuff all over this country and over seas and I know what a crate or package can go thorough before it arrives at its final destination. Having that kind of knowledge is a huge help also. I am glad it got to you safely Tom. I had read on the forum here where quite awhile back were one member had bought a dash pad and by the time it got to him it had been cracked, where it was not before it shipped. That was a worry being that it is 40 plus year old vinyl and any flexing could possibly crack it. That pad had been stored inside my house on top of some tall storage cabinets in my basement for at least 7 years with out being touched or seeing the light of day. My kids and wife had been told and warned not to touch or ever move it for fear they would crack it. Thanks Allen Small
Packages over a certain length.....it doesn't matter what they weigh. They get rated at 70 pounds (I believe that is the weight) regardless.
I learned that buying 2 complete rockers from Rick Brooks in Texas - since I only needed the metal on the ends of both rockers to repair my car, I just told Rick to saw them in half. Of course you can't do that with a dash pad
