ok ok my question is how do yiou get the shift collor for a 3 0nthe tree off the sterring collum without pullin the collun any advise will be considered oh yea i almost forgot i don't want to destroy any thing Thanx Seth
Remove the steering wheel (obviously), turn signal cam, the snap-ring (you'll need snap-ring pliers so you don't destroy it) and respective hardware. The collar will then come off. Hopfully you have a floor-shift collar to replace it with. It's a pain in the @$$ and you'll need to be careful to avoid damaging anything...
collar I have a 3 on the tree 69.5 (which is the only few months models that will fit) I intend on keeping original, if you take yours off and want to sell it I am VERY interested in trying to get a couple of spares, have even toyed with the idea of getting one intact and having a machine shop try to copy it. PLEASE be careful removing it the slide inside is on a potmetal arm that has a weak point and will break off and let me know if you want to get rid of it. I am on the last one in the state of GA so if mine now breaks its out of option time.
