Hi guys. I'm in the process of getting down to the heater core in my 73 Maverick, no A/C.
I'm using Frank's write up on it. I'm now at the point to remove the plastic floor vent from the blower/motor assembly. I can't see the fasteners that were used to attach it. Should I split the two halves of the plastic vent assembly? (not the main duct assembly, just the plastic vent assembly). Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks.

I just went and looked at mine and it doesn't have the vent. Thought I'd be able to give you a better look since it's out but I'm no help.

Yes thanks. My photo must show the head of one of the Snap Rivets. I see that bolt near the back as well. Here are two shots of how everything looks under the dash presently.

Guess I must be missing a piece! Good thing I plan on adding A/C when it goes back together.

My heater box looked good with no cracks, so I changed tactics. I noticed also there was a SS worm clamp on the top connection of heater core meaning possibly someone had changed it previously. After consulting with Dyent, I decided to just remove the cover on the box to get at the heater core and leave the rest of the heater box bolted to the firewall. Therefore, the center vent did not have to come off. Instead, I removed the vent assembly on the passenger side. Then I removed all the clips off the box. They came off easy and then I unbolted the control cable at the top of the box and removed the ring that kept the cable on the control.I removed the air control flapper. The seals in it are toast and it has a lot of surface rust. Fortunately I bought a new seal kit from Melvin’s. I’m currently trying to decide how to recondition everything.
