I already tried once and quit before I bent anything. Gave it another shot tonight and still no luck. Watched a video on removing Mustang windshield moldings but I'm not having much luck. I have the claw/hook style tool and nylon wedges. Any tips???
Slide it in, feel around so you can get behind the clip, twist the tool to move the clip out, and slowly raise the trim.
I use my fingers and gently pry up on the trim to see where the clips are when I am fishing around with the tool. When you can see them, then you know where to pry on them at.
same..but i still had tons of trouble due to the amount of butyl jammed up in there..i couldnt get at the clip without digging the crap out with the tool first. wrecked one peice but had a spare luckily.
I'm thinking this and the fact my car has been repainted with the moldings on may have them stuck. Next step is to work a blade around the outer molding and try again.
Also make sure the tool is below the C-channel of the chrome and not in it. You want to pry against the body, not the inside of the chrome to release the clip. Once you can get a few fingers between the chrome and the body, give it a light yet constant upwards pressure with a slight roll inwards towards the windshield. If the trim is "painted-in", that may be holding you up.
Yep Paul I think that's my problem. There's not even a break between my paint and the out part of the molding. I'm gonna check your pics and franktfs to see if I can get a good idea of the clip placement too.
If I wasn't at work, I'd give you measurements. You really don't need to know, but I suppose it would help a bit. You'll do just fine!
I haven't tried again yet. Been working. Maybe sunday I'll give it another shot. I'm replacing my windshield due to clouding and the seal is cracked. The Comet I bought has a very nice windshield.
I assume you're going to cut the both the old rubbers off and use a new rubber for installation? It's by far the easiest/safest way to get the windshields out.
