repairing an air vent control knob

    i know that these air vent control knobs are known to break or tear up, how can i repair it?
    it is a 1971 ford maverick grabber.

    I made my own from a universal choke cable and a section of thin angle stock. I shaped the bracket on the bench grinder.

    thats a good idea. it would work great for the passenger side so you could controle it from the drives side.
