I ground off the paint and used some aircraft stripper today to see the extent of the damage to my 1/4's. I does not look awful to me, I'm not sure how many hours it would take my body man to hammer out the corner, but he's great with the metal work. Do you guys think I should track down a patch for this, or just pay for a handmade piece?

A good body man should be able to make a piece pretty easy

Yeah I agree, that is about the easiest thing to fix that there is.

I have a little rust on my quarter similar to that. I am debating on whether to try and fix it myself or have it done. I have a MIG welder and have been welding other parts on the car but that area looks intimidating because of the rear wheel well metal. How would you replace the metal skin without cutting or damaging the wheel well metal. Anyone have any information or links on how to fix this common problem area? A body man said it would cost $250 to cut out the piece and weld a new one in, which means it's probably not that hard.

Erick, if you go to your local library you will find books on autobody. You will learn alot.

Erick, make sure you poke around on the trunk side and wheel house, that is where the vast majority of my damage is.

Thanks Dan, I will check the library. I have the Haynes Body Repair book, but it doesn't seem too good to me.

xpsnake: A good patch panel of that part of the quarter is gonna be hard to find anyways because it is usually one of the first things to rust.
