:) Hi, Looking for ideas that I may get done to increase my launch. I have Slapper bars on the leaf springs which seems very old Tech. I would like to do this with best for dollar Value. I know Sub Frame connectors will be a given but what else? I have a 1976 302...C-4...9 inch. Thanks.....Paul

what rear end gears are you running, and what tires are you using. what's your 60' times now if you've been down the track. i've got slapper bars on now and have been looking for a set of south side machine bars, but they've gone out of business. other option is the cal tracs. i run low 12's but i think i've got a lot left in the 60' s.:)

need some 90/10 shocks in the front, soften the a$$ end up as much as possible, and still be able to drive the car straight down the track, weight tranfer will be a huge help in getting the stickies to stick.
If not already done, put the battery in the trunk.
Might play with launch RPM. sometimes you have to slow down to go faster, Little tires taking a BIG hit at the line sometimes (especially with low air pressure) will wad-up in a ball and then cantipult the car forward. This is all fine and dandy, but that takes time away from your 60'. Lots of trial and error.....or what we call T&T.
    Keeps us updated.

how about a pinion snuber? set up on each car is differant but thats a cheap hook up item.. i got on on my car..

it ran 1.61 60's with that, slaper bars, cheap pep boy shocks rear, 90/10s up front and sub frame connecters.

Mono leaf springs would probably help you out alot if you're making the power to require them. Multi leaf springs fight each other on launch and therefore seperate which causes body seperation. Clamping the front half of the spring would help a bunch. Some people have good luck with clamping the back half of the spring also.

    Good luck!!!!

Paul, what mod's have been made to the engine? Cam, intake, headers etc. Do you have a stall converter? Lots of info on this would help a bunch, by the way, what 9in rear are you using, and the ratio and tire size?

i seen some other stuff with adding a half a leaf on the front half of the spring... sort of like how the dodge guys do it.

I'm definately into this conversation. I run the same (damn near exactly) as Don and frankly my sixties suck. I'm going to a 26" tire this year rather than a 28" and I've installed some 90/10's rather than the shocks I had that seemed more like 10/90's.
By the way fellers, got some 275/50r15's BFG Drag radials for this year. They fit great on an 8" wheel with 3 3/4 backspacing. I'll make sure and let you know how they do. I bet they will be worn out less than halfway through the summer. Last years 275/60r15's wore out fast! I also got some 26 x 11.5 circle track slicks I'm going to try out. sidewalls are hard as a rock but the tread surface is nice and gummy.

Well if these hook as good as the 275/60's I know they'll be awesome. There's actually a bit wider footprint with these than the taller ones. The ones I ran last year hooked almost as well as my 28x10.5 Goodyear slicks.

I've used the South Side Machine bars, but finally took 'em off because they were so stiff and causing oversteer (especially since I left the rear anti-sway bar on).
The slapper bars on there now don't hook nearly as well, but are more streetable.
