so I am new to this posting thing and could not find an answer so far (sorry if it has been addressed already)
I have a 1972 maverick and i just put in a rear end from a 73, now for the fun part- new rims and tires! i was wondering what sizes fit the best. it just got back from paint and my body guy forgot to roll the lip on the rear (grrr). any suggestions?

I guess it all depends on what you like. 15's or maybe something larger say 17's? I like 17x8's and maybe 17x9's in the rear. 17's just look better on the car IMO.

    Well Hottie!

I don't think that you solved a problem by putting air shocks on, if anything you maybe looking at a future problem with the shock mounts ! I'v heard noithing but bad reports from guys who have done this to their Maverick, anyone care to chime in here and tell what they think?

    :Welcome:
    Ok, i'll chime in...
I hav'nt seen that shock mounts have gone bad but it seems it could as there is more load on them when using air shocks. I have them and I will eventually get rid of them as they cause a stiffer ride than I like. I like the way they feel when they are not full but I can't drive on any thing but a smooth surface or I risk taking off the sidewalls. My cornering is also suffering. Seems it does'nt lean properly or something at the rear. I think it is better to get better fitting wheels and/or do something with the diff/axles, but that could cost some $$. Good luck and let us know what you do.

the correct way to do it is to re-arch the springs or buy new ones.....before I went with air shocks....I would buy the "add-a-leaf" universal kit that autozone/pepboys/o'rielly sells....for around $30 you can get the rear lifted back to stock height...... just my 2 pennies.

    Does this stiffen the ride?

So would you say it stiffens the ride but also allows for better handling? I think the air shocks create a sort of negative affect because the air is pushing instead of absorbing. Does that make sense?

That makes sense too me :p

I am not sure about the handling...I only had it out once after adding them. For those that know me know I drive like a little old man :evilsmile when I ain't in PINKY.
I took the add-a-leaf off...I had them sitting around and just thought I would see what they did. I am ordering some new leaf springs.
    here is before and after.
