I'm looking into getting new rims for my maverick. I'm not quite sure what bolt pattern it is or how big the rims could be without any problems.

    Bolt pattern should be 5 x 4.5 or 5 x 114.3

As far as big rims go..the biggest ive seen without cutting is 22"..looked pretty stupid to be honest...make sure your suspension and brakes can handle those larger heavier wheels.

If your ordering online make sure you know your offset..best bet is to go to a reputable wheel shop and have them measure you up..
