If you are referring to the Magnum 500 rims, yes. Here's a shot of a 77 with them. I believe they were available from 74 on. You can get the center caps from a number of places on the net, including ebay once in a while. There are a number of variations, but the ones that came stock on the Mav had a Ford crest on them, not the oval. I believe autokrafters carries them, or you can do a net search and find a number of places that sell them. Unfortunately, new they generally run around 30 bucks apiece.[IMG]

    Magnums...

That pic of the Maverick shows the later wheels that came on Mavericks and Comets that is similar to the original Magnum wheels that were an option on Mustangs from '65-on.
The difference is those in the pics have aluminum trim rings rather than being chromed. Some of the original Magnums were painted silver.

I am not sure that they are called 'Magnums' in the later years.

I believe that they were still called Magnums. If you look at the ads for replacement classic rims from places like Coker Tire, they still to this day call them Magnum. And you are right about the chrome rims being from the other models, not the Mavs.

On Mavericks/Comets they were called Styled Steel Wheels. Painted, not chrome plated.

Craig is right about the rims being called styled steel wheels. My 77' Maverick has them stock from the factory .The window sticker I still have calls them styled steel rims. I got my center caps from Auto Krafters and I'm quite happy with them.

Doug (DAB) just brought me a set of those rims to powdercoat!

They are pretty scarred up from the trim ring, have cobwebs and light surface rust and are generally pretty funky-looking right now, but nothing some chemical stripper, bead-blasting and polishing can't fix!

Being a two-color job, I'll have to do a basecoat in chrome on the entire rim, then mask off all but the black portions with high-temp fiberglass tape then hit it with a high-gloss black. Once that is done and the masking removed, a third coating of clear over the entire rim should make it look better than factory ;)

I've not done these types of rims yet, so I'm cutting Doug a break on the price ;)

Only because I give a hoot (most P/C places don't), I'll also be coating the inside of the rim (that is covered by the tire) to guard against future rust or corrosion .

Hey, Pegasus...when you get them done, post a pix of how they turned out. Having a Mav with the Magnums on it, I'd be curious how they look.

    hub caps

On my Merc1 I have 1969 GT wheels with center caps and trim rings. If anyone needs any hub caps for a Comet/Maverick or any Ford, let me know. I have a dozen. One is for a Fairlane, several are for Mavs, LTD's and Cougars.
