okay guys I am looking at the SW racing 10point cage and the 2x3 ladder bar back half kit, then I seen on jegs the jegster cage with the rear frame. I was wondering which one you guys thought would be better and was also wondering if any body has put a back half kit in their maverick with a full tub, and pics of hope they did it because I'm now way in over my head with this build.
check with bob hatcher I think hes done a full back half hes the guy with the super nice orange maverick without the front end on it in his avatar
To get full tubs in it go with the frame rails 24 inches apart, this is a standard set used most commonly for drag cars, its tried & true & it works.Right above the rear weld a cross member between the rails for your shocks to mount to & then tie in your roll bars & you are all set.
shouldn't I mount the bar a little behind the rear end, and what about a support that runs behind the rear seat to run the 24 inch wide frame to the rear of the car? Or should I go with a SW race cars back half and cut to fit?
I did not do a complete back half on mine - I reinforced the stock rear frame rails and built cross members between them to accept the 4 link bars and the coil overs - next to build is a cross member to mount the Watts Linkage to
I have just finished a back-half 4 link Maverick this spring. I used the Competition Engineering jig welded 4 link rear clip and the Jegs 10 point roll cage kit. The back half frame kit was 28" and the wheels are 14" and the tires are 32X 14.5W Hoosiers.
Here is a picture of the car when I bent the wheelie bars and the rear valance. I have sense toned down the wheelie tendencies.
Wow! your car looks amazing and thank you for the pictures of the back half and roll cage job. You have done an incredible job. I am hoping to start trying to begin the process of this same conversion this spring, and was wondering what type of challenges arose when you were installing the cage and suspension? And, do you think doing this type of work on my maverick on a concrete slab under a tree would be possible?
Mavrock, hope to see you at MIR on Sept. 19th for the legends race,Gary says he is going to try to make it also, can`t wait.
anything can be built under the shade of a tree if you have a concrete slab you are living the good life driveway paint jobs backyard engineering was what made hot rodding what it is today
nice work that is a nice car there is no drag strip where i live anymore it is depressing I really miss the smell of racing gas in the morning
