Does anyone have a cage in their car that can post pictures? I'm looking for ideas on how to build one that doesn't get in the way or show very much from the outside.

    roll cage

Me to Tony,i would like a cage for mine ,i was thinking 1 3/4 "round pipe and 3/8 "to 1/4 "thick wall ,something that when the door is closed you could still wind the window up and down .But hey if a guy had to open the door to do the window winding thats a small price to look cool and have streagth and safety. Jimmy2gates

Thanks Jimmy, that's my thought too. I'd like to see how some of these guys have done it. I'm specifically looking for an NHRA approved type of build and that will tie my hands substantially. But that's what we race down here in AZ.

    Thanks for the pics

Hawkco , nice pics ,preety much what i want to do except ,i want to leave the cross bar for the back hoop out that goes behind the drivers seat so i can get the back seat still in and use it ,ill tie in the front hoop to the back hoop with two side by side pipes that follow the roof line to tie in the front hoop to the back hoop, I want to keep the car as stock looking as possible ,front and rear original seats in it with a cage . Jimmy2gates

Then you've got some work to do. If you plan to run it at a drag strip, just tack weld everything in place, take it to the track, and have their tech look at it before you weld up permanent. He will offer good points.

yep, gotta be certified, or your gonna waste a whole lotta wire. and make sure you use at least 6 x 6 plates to anchor it all.

Don't you only need to use plates if you are not welding to or on the frame? I bought my '70 with the cage already in there. It was installed by a race car builder in NW Georgia - supposedly.

a couple of my neighbors run with tim lynch and the likes, and i had my chassis certified by the tech at bradenton where they run, he said kudos on the plates, per spec. so actually, im not sure.
