I did a search, couldn't find a lot of info about this thing. What does it do actually? And why is the roller version of it $200 and what's the advantage of having that?
Hey Mo, they are well worth the money just like Jack said here's a picture if you have not seen them they also make a full roller bearing upper control arm as well go to opentrackracing.com and check them out. I bought this set on ebay great quality and will never likely wear out they are like 189.00 hope this helps.
Hey Frank, how come you haven't done a how to on this? $40 is a big savings over $200. Thanks for the pics Brian. I'm ready to do this, I like my ride quality but wanna see what else I can get out of it. If I have it right, I need 4 of the Timken bearings, 2 bushings, and 2 60-63 falcon spring perches. The rest is easy to put together I'm assuming. Where is a good place to look for the older falcon spring perches, I didn't see old falcons at the junk yard Bryant and I went to. Why not just buy these from ebay for $30 instead of the ones for $200? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPRI...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
mo, we can do this to the maverick perches. all you need is the kit from this guy. http://home.bresnan.net/~dazed/opentracker its something that ive been meaning to do next time i plan on going into my front suspension.
ok, lets do it! I've kept you so busy with my mav we haven't done anything to yours. the kit that dude is selling requires welding, I think Frank's method is easier or am I missing the boat?
i just finished the wiring for my nitrous system today. and yesterday i changed the accelerator pump on the carb. while i had it off it took the choke off because i could never get it to work like i wanted it to and its not like it gets that cold here. i then made a trick little bracket for the micro switch for the nitrous. so i got some work done on it. now i just need to finish the fuel system for the nitrous.
That looks like an awesome project, and i think i know where a comet is for my test run... was going to pull the coils anyway for lowering.
Look at the thickness of the metal supporting the bearing compared to the thickness in the pic that Frank posted. Which one looks stronger This or This? Then you will be cutting a lot of metal from the perch and bending the tube to clear shock bolts. Why reinvent the wheel when you can use a factory Ford part that is a heck of a lot stronger and cheaper
so do you have the part numbers for the ones like frank has? maybe a linky? thanks for any help! :Handshake
the problem with franks method is that there are no falcons in the salvage yards. around here they are either still on the road, being restored, or already scraped. im sure the othe method works fine and holds up well.
Don't mean to beat a dead horse, but let's say I get like the aftermarket autozone whatever spring perches from a 60's falcon, can I just go ahead and put the new bearings on those and make it work?
The after market perch is the same as the Maverick. You need to find the original perch off a 60-63 Falcon/Comet
