Anyone on here tried running circle track slicks at the drags?
I got a pair of 26x11.5 Hoosier roundy round slicks on ebay for too cheap to pass up and I just wondered if anyone had any wisdom to share. Tons of soft rubber on the ground, but the stiffest sidewalls you've ever seen!

i've never used them but they're probably real close to a radial slick....good luck with them!(y)

They aren't radials, they just have an obscenely stiff sidewall. The tread surface is just like any other slick. I'm guessing they'll work at least a bit better than drag radials. Wish I didn't have to wait soooooo long to find out!

I agree, I do not think that Stephen was implying that they where radials....just closer to "that" family then a soft wall drag slick. I would guess with a little tuning(I imagine a lot of air pressure trial/error) you would be doing good with them. Either way, if the price is right, they will be a huge improvement over street tires.
How long do you have to wait until you can try them?

It will probably be March or April before I can expect to find a dry racetrack again around here. I might try a few dry hops behind the shop, but that's it. both tracks in my area are shut down for the year.

hehehe Have fun guys and take some pictures for crying out loud. I expect to see air under some wheels. Rick, get a hold of some old useless worn out front shocks for your hot rod. My new ones were way too stiff to let the car rise all year.

There will be pics a go-go on here when I finally get it to the track Ray...and John's gettin VIDEO...woohoo.:bananaman :bananaman :bananaman :bananaman

I'd be at the track all 3 nights this weekend, but I have a prior commitment with the wife in Myrtle Beach...ahhh... the things we do for love, of course by spending time with her this weekend that means I get all 3 night next weekend with no greif....I think they call that an ulterior motive:D

Mounted up the new slicks today, they stick out a bit, but no rubbing even under load with a 200+lb buddy in the car.
I got all but one time at the track on video this summer. As soon as I get a video capture, I'll have some cool stuff to post.

Hey! I resemble that remark. You trying to hurt us fat guys' feelings? Put my 250 lb butt in there with your friend and the tires will rub.

I'm looking forward to a performance report. (y)

    hehehe
Gonna be a while before I can get that report ready for ya' long rainy season around here.
Last chance to go racing is this Sunday and I'm broke.
Besides, I have lots of work to do. No time for racing, gotta get ready for next year.
