The best solution is to lose the guards altogether...

I love Mavericks, but Maverick bumper guards are just plain butt-ugly. They are right up there with shag carpet, leisure suits, platform shoes, & stuff like that from the '70s. They are a complete afterthought by Ford...

autokrafters.com has them for 70-71 NOS for $25 ea. and '74-77 pad only maverick front and rear for $15 ea. If you dont like "all those things from the 70's" you should probably be driving something other than a maverick

Those guards are one of the reasons that people scoff at Mavericks. You'd never see anything so atrocious on a Mustang or Camaro...

    Oh really?

Valence guards might as well be bumper guards on the Mustang.

Yeah? Well those are tasteful, aren't they (they were also optional). Maverick/Comet bumper guards are gawdy, grandpa $#!t...

I'm with you on that. I took the bumper guards off my '72 and trashed them. I hate bumper guards on ALL cars, Mustangs included. They all look like a slapped on afterthought to me. The valance guards are alright, but I wouldn't put them on my car.

What does not likeing things from the 70's have to do with likeing classic cars? I also like VW's. If I were to get one, that dosen't mean I would spray paint peace signs all over it and run around like a hippie. One of my friends has an '85 Camaro. He didn't grow a mullet and start running around listening to Van Halen because he bought that car. LOL...
