I put some Bill Hirsch stuff on a truck sitting outside in 1998,, the truck is total rust with no paint, the Bill Hirsch stuff is still there with no visible deterioration. I like tests like this.

is this supposed to go on under paint etc, like floorboards or undercarriages?

Ha! Loved the picture of your 'help'. Looks like it was a nice day to do exactly that!

It felt like it was in the high 90's here today. Perfect (not!) for putting up lighting in the garage.

    Don,
check out their web site...they say it goes under anything.
i am going to use it for primer and then "lab metal" for a filler, another coat and then paint.
they suggest a coat under and over body filler...
i have a test project i am working on and will have pics. in a few days. they want you to waite 72 hrs. before final coating. i am going to waite that long between 1st. coat and filler...frank...:bouncy:

Rust Bullet becomes a primer surface after it cures. Just sand it and paint it. Two coats are recomended. A one quart can costs about $32 and will cover 50 sq. ft. with two coats. I love what it has done on the places I've used it on my '77 Maverick.

Uh...Frank gave me a quart to replace the quart he borrowed. But, if he wants to feel good about paying back, I'll let him.:p

On another thread, someone said these coatings are difficult to sand smooth prior to paint (ie using as a primer). I was thinking of doing just that. Is it, or not.

Either way, I could use a filler primer over it and sand that smooth...

What little my painter has sanded, it has sanded smooth and he didn't mention any extra time or difficulty. I'll find out for sure on Saturday.

Cool. I would love to use something like this on ALL metal surfaces, inside the doors and fenders, and as a primer, if it can be used that way.

I don't want to have to deal with rust again in 5 years, and DEFINITELY don't want to repaint.

Yeah, there's another thread going about this. You guys have convinced me to try rust bullet over Por-15 next time. :)
