Went to Carolina Dragway Sunday on the spur of the moment for some box class racing, at 11 am it was 100 degrees in the shade of my ez-up just before my only qualifying pass...dialed a 5.94 for the dash for cash and ran dead on with a 4...got beat out by a dragster (of course) that ran dead on.
First elimination pass I raced a "teamate" and friend that runs a 96 stang, this win is a first for me against one of the cars that it's motor was built in the same shop as mine, we all run Windsor's and all run in the 5's, I'm the only one that doesn't run a Mustang....this pass was at 1 pm it was 106 degrees in the pits...I'd venture a guess of 126 on the track.
I had a 009 light to his 051 and that was the difference at the finish, we all went home after the next round...me because I didn't understand the timing system and that you have to use the crossover box against a slower opponent:(
Seems like I make one step forward and two steps back...one of these days though:)

Yeah. Dont your tires get greasy and slide on the track. i would imagine that they would with heat on the track like that.

We were very fortunate Don...it was one of those "dry" heat days like ya'll have in AZ...30% RH...imagine if it had been the typical 80% day.
The one thing about Carolina Dragway, the advertise themselves as the "House of Hook" and they stay on top of the track conditions, so no it wasn't "greasy" as you would find alot of tracks in that kind of heat.

Actually Lance your not just kidding...I've had to subdue the car in order to get more consistency out of it...compare these 2 pics...the first from last Dec. when the car was slower and the second from last weekend...my chassis guy is lookin at it this week and we are gonna see if there is something we can do to get more consistent 60's and take off the leash it's on right now.
Fixed or not...the leash comes off in Kentucky:evilsmile
Look at the wrinkle on the rear tires in the second pick...slightly underinflated just to keep them from spinning.
