seams in trunk

    Many of the seams in my trunk are covered with some kind of hardened goop. Is this a body putty to just cover the sharp edges, or some kind of sealant, or what? Can I just grind it away or does it perform a useful function?

    It's Seam Sealer and you need it. You should clean out all the loose sealer and apply new sealer.

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    If you apply new sealer...Get one meant for bare metal applications or it wont stick well.
