so, are all the seat belts the same from your to year? I am looking to replace the ones in my 76, with ones out of a 72...will this work? moderators please feel free to move if this thread should be somewhere else as always THANKS! Mike
Mike, Why are you looking to swap? Seems like you are going backwards to me. I spent a few hours cutting out a set of inside sill retractable seatbelts from a '74 two door which I plan to transplant into my '71 that came with the horrendous non-retractable ones. It is going to be a bit of work, but they are a hell of a lot safer that what I have now.
39 year old seatbelts don't sound safe to me. Ten years is the life expectancy of seatbelts. I replaced all of my seatbelts with new webbing and hardware for less than $110.
There are at least (5) different versions of seat belts used in Mavericks/Comets. They do not mix and match with each other. Your 1976 has the seat belt "reels" recessed inside the rocker panels. I would keep that set-up, especially if we are talking about that rare Stallion.
Here are a couple of places that can rebuild them. I will be sending mine out to one of them. I have no personal experience with any of them. Figure on around $300.
