Last week Mean Maverick helped me out when he sold me a steering wheel for my Grabber. I needed to get the grant wheel off for a upcoming event. The wheel was complete, but in typical fashion the plastic is cracked and broken at the spoke ends where the flex is. After some super glue and JB quick weld used like bondo a little sanding, paint and scrubbing here it is ready to install in about 3 hours work. Not a show quality repair, but a good daily driver fix.
Wish I could do that to my wheel but alas, it is totally covered in duct tape. Rather amusing, in my opinion. Gives it character. Nice repair job, I'm sure you could get that up to show quality if you wanted to - looks like you've got the skill.
I have never tried that kind of repair but, I have heard of people using bondo and sanding and painting it.
I'll take that you don't like the look of a stock wheel. Personally I am not a fan of it, but in this case it serves a purpose. I will reinstall the Grant wheel and the Magnum 500's I replaced with stock wheels and caps, but right now, my car is 99% stock and nearly all original. Because of that I have the opportunity to have the car featured in a Ford magazine. The stipulation was as stock and original as possible. They will make an allowance for the front chin spoiler, but now the interior is 90% (radio and rear speaker not oem) original as is the rest of the car. The spare has never been on the ground. Before ya get to excited, this is the only near stock or original car I own. Even my daily drive is modified.
I would have thought they would allowed the wheels. Even though they are not original.....they are more original than the chin spolier.
I agree, but oh well that's what he wanted. I had the wheels and caps in the garage. Got some tires that are good enogh to drive on for a while. I liked them when I first bought the car, but after seeing the Magnums on it, It was tuff to go back. I'll keep ya posted on what happens next. Photo shoot is Tuesday afternoon.
