i have been having the idea floating around in my head to Shave my Marker lights Front and Rears on my '74. Would like to know if anyone has any thought on the mod. I have had the front bumper pulled in so it now blocks part of my front lights anyways. and i was thinking of pullin the rear bumper in as well. As the big bumpers have grown on me of the last few years. But if i do pull the bumper in it will block 90% of the rear lights.
here is a pic of the tucked front bumber

as i know one of the mods that has been gettin bigger over the last few years is shaving the Marker lights on 60-70s muscle cars

'Pretty sure it's not legal in the U.S., but some people do it anyway.

That bumper is definitely tucked too far.

it is tagged as an Antique Car and the bumper was tucked that way when i started working on it when the front is all put together it really looks good i have never been a fan of the "Safety Bumpers" of the mid/late 70s cars. to me they always seem like an afterthought more then Design.

I surely know there's some rule breakers around here.. not excluding myself.. but aren't you guys worried about not having the required side signal lights.. or at least.. marker reflectors?

Every place I run around to play.. cops would be on us in a heartbeat for infractions like that. They have special street racing task forces around here and those guys are trained to spot these types of things. Even removing side mirrors will get you pulled over.

Being tagged an an antique car will not help you with the law of required safety equipment. If it was there from the factory, it is supposed to be there now.

I left mine for that reason, but I am doing flush lenses to clean up the look.

They are an afterthought, and I don't like them either, but that bumper is right up against the fenders. There's a way to tuck them and still be sensible about it. Or better yet, convert to small bumpers and end up with a better-looking car.

Illusion I also like how you mounted the rear tail Lights.
I was thinking of doing the same thing to mine but with using the Factory Maverick lights

shaving the marker lights is illegal it is Federal law to have them and at night no one can see your car from the side so it is dangerous they are on there for a reason the cops where I live would bust you if they saw you without them

I have a 70 mav drag car & I removed them, then welded metal in the hole w/ filler over it.I think it makes the car look much cleaner, but, because I`m not on the street I don`t have to worry about the cops!

I think the bumper is to close. Also, I wud not remove the marker lites; I wud do like Car-Nut and flush them w/ the fenders. Newer/later model cars have the wrap around lites/lenses whereas they serve as side markers.

While I don't recommend shaving the marker lights, I seriously doubt most cops would know (or care) that the car originally had them. I mean, how many cops even know what a Maverick is or what it came equipped with? A 1967 or older American car doesn't have them, and do cops pull them over? Obviously the law doesn't apply to pre-1968 cars, but my point is that I doubt cops are paying attention to that when they see an old car; whether or not it's a pre-'68 or post '68 model.
